Wow, what a weekend of baseball! To play in a tournament like the one this past weekend at Tiffany Hills was special. All 8 teams were loaded with talent. When you get into a tournament like that one little mistake can cost you a game! All the teams had such strong hitting and pitching so you had to take advantage of anything you were given and limit mistakes to a minimum to compete. That is what baseball is all about. The KC Dragon's were given a big test over the weekend and they were able to compete. The 2010 team is not anywhere near its potential yet. So it is exciting to think about how much better the boys will be as we keep working hard at practice and outside practice. This head coach was proud of his team this past weekend and the way they competed.
Now lets move forward and get better!

I think I am still defrosting from a cold weekend! MSP productions did a great job doing all they could to get a baseball tournament in with miserable conditions. Their hard work to get the tournament in did not go unnoticed. Putting the weather aside, I was a proud coach this weekend. The 2010 KC Dragon's players have been a hard working, focused team with great attitudes and chemistry since we started hitting the indoor tunnels in January. Well, the boys carried that attitude to the fields. With an emphasis on hitting and pitching in the winter workouts, their hard worked showed. They are developing a special team chemistry that is unlike any team I have coached. I will continue to create a positive, constructive environment for the boys to develop in. Now the weather is getting better we can work hard on the other aspects of baseball as well.
On this beautiful Monday morning outside, it is hard not to have this smile on my face when I think about the KC Dragon's first tournament!

Hello Dragons, now that we have completed our winter practices and moved into spring practices I must say that I have been impressed with you as a team. Your collective hard working attitudes and your focus has not gone unnoticed. Your attitudes so far have been better than any team I have ever coached. Keep up your focus and determination! Mother Nature has not been the most cooperative but we will move forth and continue to learn and build you boys into a strong baseball team. Keep hitting the ball hard and keep pitching strikes. Stay strong mentally and be positive at all times. This game was meant to be fun and if played right...it is alot of fun. I look forward to getting the season underway soon!!

January 22, 2010 It is a Friday afternoon as I sit at my desk. The KC Dragons have now completed 4 hours of winter practice. "The boys are looking great!" This year's focus is about fundamentals and breaking down things and every player is buying into working on improving their swing and mechanics. I have really appreciated the boys focus at practice and hard work. The boys are appreciating their new hitting consultant (Todd Sears) appearance at winter practices. Todd is noticing the boys focus and quick improvement in a short time. Todd and I both agree the most important thing is for the boys to take their fundamental tee work into the 'real" game.
I am real excited about this group of boys and their families and I am really looking forward to the 2010 season. The KC Dragons are developing an exciting chemistry!
